Symptoms of abdominal cancer can vary among individuals. Some people experience no symptoms at all, especially in the early stages of some forms of abdominal cancer, such as colorectal cancer or ovarian cancer.
Symptoms of abdominal cancer can also be vague and very similar to other diseases, disorders and conditions. These symptoms can include abdominal pain, fever, fatigue, weight loss, loss of appetite, itching, night sweats, difficulty swallowing (dysphagia).
Symptoms of abdominal cancer can also affect the gastrointestinal tract and digestive system. These symptoms include constipation, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. There may also be abdominal masses or swelling, a change in bowel movements, bloating, gas, rectal bleeding, and/or blood in the stool (melana).
Symptoms of abdominal cancer can also affect the reproductive system. Symptoms can include impotence and other sexual problems, heavy menstrual bleeding, and vaginal bleeding between periods.
Symptoms of abdominal cancer can also affect the skin and result in very pale skin (pallor) or jaundice (a yellowing of the skin). Other symptoms can include shortness of breath, anemia, or hematuria (bloody urine).
Complications of some forms of abdominal cancer include dysuria (difficulty urinating), urinary retention, intestinal obstruction and rupture of the intestinal wall. This can lead to a life-threatening abdominal infection called peritonitis.
