Causes of Amenorrhea
Causes of Amenorrhea
Amenorrhea can have many different causes. Causes of primary amenorrhea (when the woman has not had her first period) include, but are not limited to chromosomal abnormalities, pituitary or adrenal gland tumors, obesity, pregnancy, malnutrition and polycystic ovarian syndrome. Secondary amenorrhea (when a woman stops having periods after normal menstruation) may be caused by menopause, pregnancy, over-exercising, malnutrition, stress and polycystic ovarian syndrome, among other causes.
