People who have anaphylaxis can experience a variety of symptoms that can affect the respiratory system, skin, gastrointestinal system, and the cardiovascular system.

Respiratory symptoms include shortness of breath, wheezing, difficulty breathing, and difficulty swallowing or speaking due to swelling of the throat, tongue or windpipe. Swelling of the mouth and lips can also occur. Respiratory symptoms of anaphylaxis commonly occur in combination with symptoms of the skin. These include hives, pruritus (itching), flushed skin or pallor.

Anaphylaxis can also present with rapid, week pulse, dizziness, confusion, anxiety, restlessness, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
