Symptoms of Basilar artery migraine

Symptoms of Basilar artery migraine: Introduction

People who have basilar artery migraines can experience a wide variety of symptoms. However, basilar artery migraines are characterized in part by a dramatic aura, which consists of warning symptoms that are a precursor to the headache. Symptoms of an aura may include lightheadedness, dizziness, double vision, loss of coordination, confusion, loss of consciousness, slurred speech, and temporary blindness. A pins and needles or tingling sensation may also be experienced.

The aura, which generally lasts from five to 60 minutes, is followed by a severe headache that often starts on one side of the head and spreads to the other side while increasing in intensity. Other symptoms that can accompany the headache include nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light (photophobia), and cold hands and feet.

The length of a basilar artery migraine can vary greatly between individuals, from several hours to several days....more about Basilar artery migraine »
