Glossary for Bethlem myopathy

  • Ankle spasm: A sudden involuntary contraction of the muscles surrounding the ankle joint.
  • Genetic Disease: Any disease that is handed down to oneself through the chromosomes of ones parents
  • Joint hypermobility: Increased movement of the joints with a predisposition to being dislocated.
  • Limb conditions: Medical conditions affecting the upper or lower limbs.
  • Muscle conditions: Any condition that affects the muscles of the body
  • Muscular Dystrophy: Any of various muscle wasting diseases
  • Musculoskeletal conditions: Medical conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system of bones, muscles and related structures.
  • Myopathy: General name for any disease of the muscles.
  • Stiff joints: Reduced mobility or movement of the joints
