Prognosis for Boltshauser Syndrome: The onset, progression, severity and type of symptoms can vary considerably from case to case but most cases cause a high degree of disability. Hearing loss tends to start in early childhood and progresses slowly. Muscle weakness and wasting tends to affect the hands first, then the legs and eventually spreads up the limbs.
