Glossary for Bottlebrush buckeye poisoning

  • Balsam apple poisoning: The Balsam apple is a climbing vine which produces yellowish fruit. The fruit contains toxins - resin, saponic glycoside and alkaloids - which can cause various symptoms if eaten. Large amounts of the fruit or seeds to be consumed to cause toxicity. The leaves of the plant may be cooked, drained and eaten safely.
  • Death: The cessation of life
  • Depressive symptoms: Inappropriate depressed mood.
  • Diarrhea: Loose or watery stool.
  • Dilated pupils: A condition characterized by the dilatation of the pupils of the eye
  • Muscle weakness: A condition which is characterized by an inability of the muscles to function at their full strenght
  • Nausea: The queasy feeling of nausea and often also vomiting.
  • Paralysis: The loss of motor function due to dysfunction of the spinal cord
  • Plant-related conditions: Medical conditions related to biological plants.
  • Poisoning, overdose or adverse reactions: Medical conditions related to poisons, drug overdosage, or drug adverse reactions.
  • Stupor: Mental sub-responsiveness not as severe as coma
  • Vomiting: Vomiting or retching symptoms.
