Treatments for Comel-Netherton Syndrome

  • Treatment involves symptomatic measures:
  • Emollients and keratolytics to assist with moisturizing the skin
  • Antibiotics for infections - skin or other.
  • Antihistamines
  • Topical steroids - not as useful in infants due to risk of systemic complications such as suppression of pituitary gland activity. Large areas of severely damaged skin allow more absorption of the steroids.
