Glossary for Ecstasy abuse

  • Automobile accidents injury: An injury caused by the mechanism of a car accident
  • Brain symptoms: Symptoms affecting the brain
  • Death: The cessation of life
  • Dehydration: Loss of fluids in the body
  • Drug abuse: Addiction to any of various illicit drugs.
  • Drug-related conditions: Medical conditions related to drug usage, including adverse reactions, intoxication, and overdose.
  • Euphoria: Extreme happiness or raised mood
  • Heart attack: Serious and often fatal acute heart condition
  • Hyperthermia: Hyperthermia is an increase in body temperature in the context of an unchanged thermoregulatory point in the brain.
  • Hyponatremia: An electrolyte disturbance involving low sodium levels in the blood. Symptoms are determined by the degree of imbalance. Very low sodium levels can cause water intoxication which can be very dangerous.
  • MDMA -- Teratogenic Agent: There is evidence to indicate that exposure to MDMA during pregnancy may have a teratogenic effect on the fetus. A teratogen is a substance that can cause birth defects. The likelihood and severity of defects may be affected by the level of exposure and the stage of pregnancy that the exposure occurred at.
  • Mental health conditions: Medical conditions related to mental health, emotions, behavior, personality, psychology, psychiatry, and so on.
  • Miscarriage: Loss of fetus without human interference
  • Nausea: The queasy feeling of nausea and often also vomiting.
  • Rapid heart beat: Excessively rapid heart beat.
  • Sleep disturbance: Sleeping difficulty, called insomnia, can involve difficulty falling asleep when you first go to bed at night, waking up too early in the morning, and waking up often during the night.
