Glossary for Fibrocystic breast disease

  • Breast Cancer: Cancer of the breast.
  • Breast abscess: Pus-filled abscess in the breast
  • Breast conditions: Any condition affecting the breast
  • Breast discomfort: A feeling of discomfort located anatomically in the breast
  • Breast lump: Any type of lump in the breast
  • Breast pain: Pain in or near the breasts (mastodynia)
  • Celexa -- Teratogenic Agent: There is evidence to indicate that exposure to Celexa (an antidepressant) during pregnancy may have a teratogenic effect on the fetus. A teratogen is a substance that can cause birth defects. The likelihood and severity of defects may be affected by the level of exposure and the stage of pregnancy that the exposure occurred at.
  • Chest conditions: Any condition affecting the chest
  • Cyclical mastalgia: Cyclical mastalgia is periodic episodes of breast pain.
  • Cysts: Lump produced by over-secreting gland
  • Fibroadenoma: Benign tumor containing fibrous tissues and glands (common in breasts)
  • Fibrosis: The formation of fibrous tissue
  • Intertrigo: Skin inflammation from rubbing together of two skin areas
  • Lipoma: Tumor of fat cells usually just under the skin
  • Mastitis: Infected breast common in nursing mothers
  • Paget's Disease: Breast carcinoma involving nipple and areola.
  • Tenderness: The occurrence of the sensation of pain
