Diagnostic Tests for Hyperinsulinemia

Diagnostic tests for Hyperinsulinemia:

The main test is simply an insulin test for serum insulin levels. This blood test measures the level of insulin in the blood, and is too high if a person has hyperinsulemia. Obviously, this test cannot be useful for a person who is injecting insulin. The results can also be influenced by diabetes pills for Type 2 diabetes, such as sylfonylureas, that cause the pancreas to output more insulin. Hence, diagnosis of hyperinsulemia is difficult once a diabetic has started their treatment.
