Inheritance and Genetics of Inflammatory bowel disease

Genetics of Inflammatory bowel disease:

Genetics is a risk factor for inflammatory bowel disease. Specific genes have been linked to inflammatory bowel disease, but scientists are not yet certain of the cause and effect of these genetic changes. Inflammatory bowel disease is most likely polygenic, meaning that more than one gene and other factors affect its development.

About inheritance and genetics:

Inheritance of Inflammatory bowel disease refers to whether the condition is inherited from your parents or "runs" in families. The level of inheritance of a condition depends on how important genetics are to the disease. Strongly genetic diseases are usually inherited, partially genetic diseases are sometimes inherited, and non-genetic diseases are not inherited. For general information, see Introduction to Genetics.
