Glossary for Marfanoid hypermobility

  • Abnormal curvature of the spine: Abnormal curvature of the spine is a deformity or irregular curve of shape of the spine in the back.
  • Arachnodactyly: A rare inherited syndrome characterized by loose joints, slipped vertebrae and long, thin fingers.
  • Connective tissue disorders: Any condition affecting connective tissues.
  • Funnel Chest: Depression of the breast bone - sunken chest appearance. The condition is usually a congenital deformity but may occur in association with conditions such as rickets, Marfan syndrome and Poland syndrome. Severe cases may result in breathing problems or may affect heart function.
  • Musculoskeletal conditions: Medical conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system of bones, muscles and related structures.
  • Rheumatic conditions: Any condition that affects ones joints
  • Tall stature: Tall stature refers to being tall.
