Glossary for Medication related hypothyroidism

  • Cold intolerance: An inability to tolerate cold temperatures
  • Constipation: Difficult or dry bowel movements
  • Depressive symptoms: Inappropriate depressed mood.

  • Dry skin: Dryness of the skin.

  • Heart disease: Any of various heart conditions.

  • Myxedema coma: Myxedema coma is a rare, life-threatening condition, occurs late in the progression of hypothyroidism. The condition is seen typically in elderly women and is often precipitated by infection, medication, environmental exposure, or other metabolic-related stresses.
  • Thyroid disorders: Any disorder of the thyroid gland.
  • Weight gain: An increase in weight for any reason.
