Glossary for Metaphyseal chondrodysplasia Spahr type

  • Abnormal curvature of the spine: Abnormal curvature of the spine is a deformity or irregular curve of shape of the spine in the back.
  • Bone conditions: Conditions that affect the bones
  • Bowed legs: Also known as genu varum. It is a deformity marked by medial angulation of the leg in relation to the thigh, an outward bowing of the legs, giving the appearance of a bow
  • Chondrodysplasia: Hereditory bone dysplasia.
  • Failure To Thrive: Slow growth or inadequate weight gain of an infant or child.
  • Limb conditions: Medical conditions affecting the upper or lower limbs.
  • Lower limb conditions: Any medical condition affecting the lower limbs, i.e. the legs, knees, feet, etc..
  • Musculoskeletal conditions: Medical conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system of bones, muscles and related structures.
  • Osteoporosis: Bone thinning and weakening from bone calcium depletion.
  • Short stature: A rare syndrome characterized mainly by the association of short stature, Pierre Robin sequence, cleft mandible, hand anomalies and clubfoot.
