Inheritance of MODY diabetes:

Autosomal dominant diseases are usually inherited from the one parent who already has the disease. Rare cases of sporadic genetic disease with neither parent having the disease can also occur. See inheritance of autosomal dominant diseases.

MODY is a genetically-inherited form of diabetes. Whereas other forms of diabetes only seem to have a slight genetic link, MODY has been clearly identified as an inherited form of diabetes. MODY is said to have "autosomal dominant inheritance".
