Glossary for Mouth cancer

  • Aphthous Ulcer: A rare condition characterized by recurring periods of painful inflamed mouth ulcers.
  • Bad breath: Bad breath
  • Cancer: Abnormal overgrowth of body cells.
  • Erythroplakia: A red patch in the mouth that is not attributable to any other condition.

  • Gum cancer: The gum is the soft tissue surrounding the base of the teeth, any malignant proliferation of cells of the gums is called gum cancer.
  • Head Conditions: Conditions that affect the head
  • Head and neck cancer: Any cancerous tumor affecting the head and/or neck region.
  • Head and neck tumors: Any tumors afflicting the head or neck regions, including both cancerous and benign tumors.
  • Ichthyosiform Erythroderma, Corneal Involvement and Deafness Syndrome: A rare genetic ectodermal disorder characterized by keratitis, skin lesions and sensorineural deafness. The deafness and skin redness are usually present at birth and the corneas of the eye are gradually destroyed by keratitis which can result in loss of vision.
  • Keratitis Ichthyosis Deafness Syndrome: A rare genetic ectodermal disorder characterized by keratitis, skin lesions and sensorineural deafness. The deafness and skin redness are usually present at birth and the corneas of the eye are gradually destroyed by keratitis which can result in loss of vision.
  • Leukoplakia: A mouth disorder where white patches form on the inside of the mouth and on the tongue. Mostly occurs in older people.
  • Lip cancer: It is the main type of oral cancer. Cancer involving the lips
  • Mental retardation -- short stature -- cleft palate -- unusual facies: A very rare syndrome characterized mainly by short stature, mental retardation, cleft palate and facial anomalies.
  • Mouth conditions: Any condition that affects the mouth
  • Oral cancer: Cancer (malignant) of the lip or inside the mouth.
  • Pain swallowing: Pain related to the action of swallowing
  • Palate cancer: Any cancer that is located anatomically on the palate of the mouth
  • Parotid gland cancer: A malignancy that is located in the parotid gland
  • Respiratory system cancer: A condition that is characterised by a malignancy anatomically located in the respiratory system
  • Salivary gland cancer: Salivary gland cancer is a rare form of cancer in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the salivary glands in the mouth, neck or throat
  • Senter syndrome: A rare genetic ectodermal disorder characterized by ichthyosiform erythroderma and sensorineural deafness.
  • Smoking: The smoking of cigarettes
  • Smoking-related conditions: Medical conditions related to smoking or other tobacco exposure.
  • Tongue Cancer: The majority of tongue cancers are squamous cell carcinomas. These arise from the lining that covers the muscles of the tongue
  • Tonsil cancer: A disorder characterised by malignancy that is located on the tonsils
  • Tumours related to AIDS: It usually occurs due to decreased immunity.
