Glossary for Muscular dystrophy -- white matter spongiosis

  • Brain conditions: Medical conditions that affect the brain
  • Facial palsy: A usually temporary facial nerve disorder where a part or all of the face becomes suddenly paralysed.

  • High arched palate: A condition where the roof of the mouth is higher in the mouth than normal.

  • Limb conditions: Medical conditions affecting the upper or lower limbs.
  • Mental retardation: A very rare syndrome characterized mainly by mental retardation, hypogonadism, diabetes and facial and skull abnormalities.
  • Muscle atrophy: Decrease in size and bulk of muscle.
  • Muscle conditions: Any condition that affects the muscles of the body
  • Musculoskeletal conditions: Medical conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system of bones, muscles and related structures.

  • Reduced muscle tone: Reduced muscle tone is a loss of or less than normal amount of muscle tightness.
  • Seizures: A rare syndrome characterized by mental retardation, seizures and high levels of hydroxylysine in the urine.
