Glossary for Myopathy, congenital nonprogressive with Moebius and Robin sequences

  • Death: The cessation of life
  • Eye and vision conditions: Medical conditions affecting the eyes or the vision systems.
  • Genetic Disease: Any disease that is handed down to oneself through the chromosomes of ones parents
  • Head Conditions: Conditions that affect the head
  • Moebius sequence: A rare genetic disorder characterized by facial paralysis due to problems with 6th and 7th nerve development.
  • Mouth conditions: Any condition that affects the mouth
  • Muscle conditions: Any condition that affects the muscles of the body
  • Muscle weakness: A condition which is characterized by an inability of the muscles to function at their full strenght
  • Musculoskeletal conditions: Medical conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system of bones, muscles and related structures.
  • Myopathy: General name for any disease of the muscles.
  • Pierre Robin Sequence: A syndrome characterized by the symptoms of micrognathia, cleft palate, glossoptosis, and absent gag reflex
  • Poor growth: Poor body growth or delayed physical development.
