Brain stereotactic radiosurgery system: A brain stereotactic radiosurgery system is a gamma radiation source and a computer-based radiation beam alignment system to deliver a high intensity dose of radiation (gamma radiation) to a very small area of the brain to destroy diseased tissue. A three-dimensional view of the brain is obtained by magnetic resonance imaging or computed tomography. This type of radiosurgery system is used to treat brain tumors and other neurological conditions, particularly hard to reach tumors at the base of the skull.
