Ear oximeter: An ear oximeter is a medical device that measures a patient's pulse (heartbeats per minute) and indirectly measures arterial blood oxygen saturation. The hand-held device is positioned in the ear and emits different wavelengths of light through the blood in the ear; the amount of absorbed light is recorded by the sensor and blood oxygen saturation is calculated.
