Amelia: A birth defect where one or more limbs are missing. Can be categorized as tetramelia, trimelia, etc depending on the number of limbs missing. Amelia can also refer to an state of apathy associated with some types of psychosis.
Amelia: Congenital absence of a limb or limbs. Autosomal dominant, autosomal recessive, and X-linked forms have been reported, but most cases are sporadic. [G. a- priv. + melos, a limb]
