Amniotic band syndrome: A condition where fibrous bands develop in the uterus and entrap the fetus, causing structural and functional deformities. Associated with congenital defects such as clubbed feet, missing limbs, simian creases and defects of the skull, abdomen and chest. Also called amniotic band disruption sequence syndrome.

Amniotic band syndrome: A disorder present in the newborn infant in which constriction rings or bands, causing soft tissue depressions, encircle digits, extremities, or limbs and sometimes the neck, thorax, or abdomen. They may be associated with intrauterine amputations.
