Amoxycillin: A broad-spectrum semisynthetic antibiotic, similar to ampicillin but more resistance to gastric acids, that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin binding proteins and inhibiting peptidoglycan synthesis, a critical component of bacterial cell walls. (NCI)
