Dermatophytes: Another name for ringworm (tinea).

Dermatophytes: A family of ascomycetous fungi, order Onygenales, characterized by smooth ascospores. The two genera in the family are Arthroderma and Ctenomyces. Several well-known anamorphic forms are parasitic upon the skin.
