Ophthalmia neonatorum: a conjunctival inflammation occurring within the first 10 days of life; causative agents include Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Chlamydia trachomatis. SYN: blennorrhea neonatorum, infantile purulent conjunctivitis, neonatal conjunctivitis.
