A woman searched for a diagnosis for 3 years before she cam across a newspaper article describing her symptoms. She was had had trouble with her voice since she was a child and she deteriorated into adulthood. She discovered she had spasmodic dysphonia - a neurological disorder affecting the larynx muscles and thus causing the voice to waver, halt or almost disappear. Botox injections have improved her condition.
