The FDA has allowed RU 486, an abortion pill, to be sold as long as the warnings on the package are increased. The increased warning requirement came after a third women died after taking the abortion pill. So far, the drug is believed to be responsible for at least 3 deaths and 676 adverse reactions which include sickness and dizziness. 17 women are believed to have used the drug when they had ectopic pregnancies and 72 other women suffered bleeding so heavy they required transfusions. Another seven women suffered serious bacterial infections. The bacterial infections are often symptomless and thus difficult to detect.
