Antidepressants and gene mutations may reduce breast cancer drug’s effectiveness

American researchers have found that a gene mutation in some women may reduce the effectiveness of a common breast cancer drug – tamoxifen. The mutation’s prevalence is believed to be approximately 40%. Furthermore, certain commonly prescribed antidepressants may also reduce tamoxifen’s effectiveness.
