Australian Medical Association wants health warnings placed on alcohol products

The Australian Medical Association wants Federal Government legislation to enforce health warnings on alcoholic products similar to that on cigarettes. Some suggested health warnings include: drinking alcohol during pregnancy can result in harm to the baby; drinking alcohol can impair driving ability; drinking excess alcohol can cause cancer; liver disease and stroke; and drinking alcohol can cause violence.
