Breast feeding has a protective effect against asthma

A study conducted in Sweden claims that babies who are breast-fed exclusively for the first 4 months are less prone to asthma during the first four years of life. Also, longer periods of breast feeding can further reduce the risk of asthma as well as reducing the severity of asthma if it does occur. Of course, high hereditary risk of asthma does reduce the beneficial effects of breast feeding.
