Certain foods have proven health benefits

Many research bodies are able to verify the benefits of specific foods in treating a variety of health conditions. Flavenoids found in dark chocolate improve heart and artery health, pecans help reduce cholesterol, grapes, red wine and white button mushrooms have compounds that block estrogen production and hence slow breast cancer growth, cranberries act against infections and contain antioxidants and broccoli and blueberries have broad health benefits also. Other foods deemed to prevent or alleviate health conditions are kiwi, pomegranates, almonds, cabbage and cinnamon.
