Depression in elderly often not detected or treated with serious consequences

Depression in elderly people often undiagnosed and therefore untreated. This is often due to the lack of understanding of a normal aging process. Undiagnosed depression can lead to lowered immune system leading to other serious ailments such as suicide, stroke, diabetes, heart disease and cancer. Research shows that up to 90% of seniors are untreated.
