Diabetes cured with pancreatic island cells transplant

A woman with Type 1 diabetes received a pancreatic island cells transplant and is now declared clear of the disease. The transplant was performed through a drip and thus no surgery was required. The woman had been coping with injectable insulin for 20 years before the transplant. This provides hope for other sufferers of Type 1 diabetes.
