Diabetes linked to higher incidence of dementia

Research results published in Neurology showed that the risk of dementia nearly trebled in middle-aged patients with diabetes mellitus. Researchers believe that one reason for this could be that the high levels of advanced glycation end products found in diabetics has previously been linked to dementia. Also, microvascular disease in diabetics may be a cause.
