Drug company obtains orphan status for its new cancer drug

Sonus Pharmaceuticals Inc. has had its cancer drug, Tocosol Paclitaxel, approved as an orphan drug for the treatment of non-superficial urothelial cancer such as bladder cancer. The company is also aiming to have the drug approved for treatment of breast, ovarian and lung cancer. Current trials involve bladder cancer.
