Hepatitis displays varying symptoms at different stages of the disease. At stage 1 there are usually no symptoms. At stage two symptoms include flu-like symptoms, loss of appetite, malaise, nausea, aching muscles, headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea in children, constipation in adults and dark urine. In stage 3, jaundice and itching are common. At stage 4 symptoms will not help clarify which type of hepatitis the patient has. Prevention measures for hepatitis include frequent hand washing for hygiene, staying away from unhealthy eating places, don’t share personal items with infected people, drink boiled water if possible, ensure sexual partner is not infected, use fresh disposable injection syringes, receive blood from known uninfected blood, don’t donate blood if infected, have a Hepatitis B vaccination. Hepatitis is quite contagious and fairly common viral disease that affects the liver. It is often misdiagnosed a cold. Timely diagnosis provides the best outcome.
