Highlight on five potential drug recalls

A Senate Finance Committee hearing placed more focus on the FDAs shortcomings over the Vioxx saga rather that Mercks inadequacies. Even FDA officials claim that Merck did not act inappropriately. Merck has highlighted a soon to be released article in the Journal of the American Medical Association which suggests that five medications should be withdrawn from the market until further studies can prove their safety. These drugs are Crestor from AstraZeneca, Bextra fromPfizer, Accutane from Hoffman-LaRoche, Serevent from GlaxoSmithKline and Mericia from Abbott Laboratories.
