Hospital reproached over unnecessary hysterectomy death

Doctors performed a hysterectomy on a 53 year old woman which, due to her existing heart problems, allegedly resulted in her death. The hysterectomy was done to treat her stomach pains. Her husband's complaints resulted in an internal inquiry which found that the hospital was clear of any wrongdoing. The husband then sought advice from the health ombudsman whose findings showed that the woman should not have had a hysterectomy because of her heart condition. Also the hysterectomy would probably not have alleviated her stomach pains. The hospital has since apologized and launched a new enquiry.
