Inadequate monitoring of residents at a care facility results in manís death

An 80 year old man wandered away from his residential care facility during the night and was hit by a car. He allegedly died several months later as a result of his injuries. The care facility was aware that the man had dementia and was prone to wandering yet the door alarms had not been set during the night nor had other precautions been taken to prevent such an occurrence. The case brought forward the manís children was settled for $1 million.
