Increasing alcohol consumption is causing younger people to get acute pancreatitis

Alcohol abuse and gall stones are the main cause behind acute pancreatitis. It causes sever upper abdominal pain as well as nausea and vomiting. Rates of diagnosis have been steadily increasing for men and women, especially in the younger age group. Pancreatitis has a poor prognosis because no new treatments have been developed since the 1970ís.
