Medical error results in no harm

A mother took her 6 year old daughter to the hospital because of stomach pains. The doctor diagnosed urinary tract infection and prescribed Augmentin. The mother filled the prescription but after her daughter had consumed the medication, she noticed that she had actually been given someone else's medication. She had instead been given the antibiotic Amoxicillin. Although her daughter had suffered no adverse effects from the medication error she was concerned that the potential for serious harm was present. The pharmacy eventually apologized.
