Medical expert denies any proven link between salt consumption and hypertension

A medical expert has cast great doubt on previous studies which have led to the current salt and hypertension guidelines in the US and Europe. He claims that there is no direct correlation between salt and hypertension and furthermore, no long term tests have ever been done on the topic. Likewise, no studies have been done to evaluate the link between salt consumption and cardiovascular disease.
