Psychiatrists have recently conducted a survey and found that approximately 1 in 10 children under 5 years of age show signs of a psychiatric illness, which correlates with adult figures. The primary disorders identified included depression, ADHD, and oppositional defiant disorder. Some experts have rebuked the research findings, particularly on the basis of behavior being due to a chemical imbalance or 'normal' toddler behavior, and questioned what benefits branding a child with a condition could do to their future.
