Neuropathic or nerve pain affects roughly 15 million people in the US and Europe. Symptoms include numbness, stabbing, burning and tingling in the feet, legs and hands. Neuropathic pain is difficult to diagnose and frequently underdiagnosed and hence undertreated. The pain may be caused by trauma to the nervous system, diabetes or shingles. Treatment may involve daily exercise, pro-active pain management and a positive attitude.
