New antiviral treatment proposed for asthmatics

Asthma sufferers are less able to fight off viral infections due to an inherent deficiency in interferons, immune mediators that assist in the removal of virus infected cells. By providing interferons as a treatment, researchers are hoping to reduce the morbidity of viral diseases in asthmatics, including the common cold.
