A new plaque removal system (Silver-Hawk System) was recently trialed on two men. The system uses a catheter to clear away the plaque in patient’s legs. This ultimately will ease leg pain and help avoid amputations in patients with peripheral vascular disease. Only 4% of the estimated 10 million PVD sufferers are diagnosed. Atherosclerosis is the most common cause of PVD.
