The US FDA has approved a blood test for anthrax which produces fast and accurate results. Previously, samples had to be sent to a lab in Atlanta from which time it took four hours to produce a result. The new test, Anthrax Quick ELISA can be done at any local health facility or lab in about an hour. Early detection of the disease allows prompt treatment.
