Older women unaware of osteoporosis risk

A poll has found that older women are oblivious to the risks of osteoporosis. 47% of those over 50 that were surveyed believed they were not at risk. The cost of this ignorance to public health is increasing rapidly. The survey shows that less than a quarter of women between 50 and 74 who suffered a bone fracture were taking prescribed medication for osteoporosis. Less than half of the women in France Germany, Italy and Spain and UK are diagnosed.
