Only some of breast cancer causes are known

Exact causes of breast cancer is still a mystery. Hereditary factors explain about 10% of cases. Lifestyle factors such as alcohol and poor diet explain another 40%. Other risk factors include early menstruation, no children or delaying children and late menopause. All of these cause estrogen exposure over longer periods of time which can trigger cancer. The effects of chemicals in our surroundings are still unknown.
